I know 'Climate Change' exists, but does 'Global Warming'?
I’m a year 9 student and I’ve been very curious if the drastic climate change was caused by man.
I’ve been very miss lead about Gore’s speech during my geography class and we have to do a whole assignment on climate change, but the whole speech went on and off the topic, which I found very odd.
I think Gore will also become the very first carbon trading billionaire; and carbon trading doesn’t seem to be helping the environment in anyway.
I also think that the government is earning millions and millions of dollars by making people worried about global warming; therefore make them buy water tanks, solar panels, etc.
It also seems to be that one side of the scientists are picking out bits of information that is not yet proven to be an actual fact.
For example, the scientists stated the ice caps in India were going to melt into water in 30 years.
They got the information from an Indian man, who has never even researched about the caps melting.
But on the other hand, we hardly hear from the other side of the scientists who think differently.
Still, it turned out that over 50% of US citizens have voted that they believe that the climate change was not all completely caused by man.
And if they WERE really worried about this, then instead of carbon trading, why not charge the large with a hefty price for factories polluting badly who are continuously being allowed more because they buy the emissions of the smaller companies (because it will eventually make them change the factories to make it greener), and not let the smaller factories or companies sell them their emissions?
Of course, I know it’s not that easy, and I’m not trying to say that there is no such thing as global warming, and we, as humans aren’t doing anything harmful by polluting toxins into the air.
But there has been climate change and there always will be.
Just because a few degrees has not been normal, it doesn’t mean we should go and blame it all on humans.
After all, someone here is earning millions, soon to be billions of dollars.
So is it real or not?
Global Warming is not man made.
Ice ages have come and gone for billions of years.
When ice age is here. What makes it melt away. You got it. WARMER weather.
One volcano puts more CO2 and debris in the atmosphere than man has since to beginning of time.
The atmosphere and temperature s are never constant.
There is nothing in this world that is a constant.

We don’t have nearly enough information to make an informed decision. We have been keeping good climate data for only 400 years at most. The earth has been here for billions. What can we possibly know about long term patterns from such a small sampling.

You know where all the money is at? The oil and coal industry, that’s where. And not coincidentally, that’s where most of this "global warming is fake" propaganda originates.
You don’t have to listen to gore. You don’t have to listen to anyone. Look it up. Once you see the information through unbiased eyes then you can make up your mind.

well think about this there are substances in the air… that we change/rearrange into other substances… (via manufacturing/automobile usage/waste/using up air chemical products/chlorofluorocarbons<<< BIG FACTOR)
now that’s gotta have some sorta effect eventually doesn’t it?
that’s the factor from Man (Mankind/etc).
on the other hand:
there’s also other outside factors that can effect that we would define as "natural,"
like UV rays, various cycles (rain cycle, nitrogen cycle, carbon cycle, etc)..
that all come into play.
doesn’t mean any climate changes over the next 30 years will be drastic (like maybe Gore emphasizes) BUT…eventually if things get off-place/we have enough an offset of certain elements/compounds, then we could actually see some significant changes.
example: there are places that have thinner ozone layers that most scientist would agree have linked to chlorofluorocarbons… look it up.
—less ozone (our protective layer) means more exposure certain things.. (UV rays)
certain kinds of pollution are bad.. some cause more changes then others is what i think… (like CFCs)

look up the "runaway refrigerator effect" on Mars.
http://www.astronomynotes.com/solarsys/s10.htm
then look up the atmospheric conditions on planet Venus.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus
–compare the two
then there’s our atmosphere which is currently stable..
our data for planetary weather systems should come partially from examples in other planets…
and according to those… well see for yourself what could happen in extreme cases.
http://www.howstuffworks.com/ozone-layer.htm/printable
-good youtube video btw
best thing extreme weather-wise is just focus on keeping that protective layer… not making it too thick, too thin… keep a good, balanced composition…
like in the story of Goldilocks… "just right"
Global warming is a new religious cult even although warming and cooling has been going on for millions of years on this planet. Thankfully we all now know that accurate and representative temperature measurements from satellites and balloons show that the planet has cooled significantly in the last two or three years, losing in only 18 months 15% of the claimed warming which took over 100 years to appear — that warming was only one degree Fahrenheit (half of one degree Celsius) anyway, and part of this is a systematic error from ground station readings which are inflated due to the ‘urban heat island effect’ i.e. local heat retention due to urban sprawl, not global warming…and it is these, ‘false high’ ground readings which are then programmed into the disreputable climate models, which live up to the GIGO acronym — garbage in, garbage out.
We also know for a fact that atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, currently only 350 parts per million have been over 18 times higher in the past at a time when cars, factories and power stations did not exist — levels rise and fall without mankind’s help.
I expect that Global warming will fizzle out like all the other environmental scares over the next few years

The more we learn, the clearer it becomes that global warming is real, serious, unprecedented, driven mainly by human activity, and requires appropriate action. This conclusion is reached even after taking natural variation, such as that connected to the sunspot cycle, into account. See the NSF overview:

congratulations on proving you’re an intelligent individual & not just a mindless puppet blindly repeating rumors & propaganda like most other people.
I happen to agree with your assessment but you shouldn’t let other peoples personal opinions influence your own.
it looks like josh E may have reached a different conclusion using the same logical process you used, in an ideal world you 2 would share information & discuss it.
its good to see young people like you thinking for yourself, maybe the current school system isn’t as bad as I thought.

Climate change as well as global warming and cooling are caused by variations of output in the sun. The power output levels of the sun are controlled and enhanced by sunspot activity which can vary the suns actual output by 10% or more. To maintain a decent comfortable climate as we had from say the 1950 through 1990 requires a daily average of 110 to 120 sunspots. If the suns output climbs to 130 or higher we have a warm climate like all the previous optimums of history the warmest at about 8 degrees warmer than the current was the Holocene optimum from 8 to 4 thousand years ago. Recently we had another optimum that was 4 to 6 degrees warmer than the current optimum that lasted from 800 through 1300 a period of 500 years with one mild cool spell in it. This was followed by a cool period called the little ice age that extended from about 1350 through 1850 that was called the little ice age by science and contained the Maunder solar minimum the coldest part of the current 13,000 year long optimum. Learn science and help study why the sun changes like this and ignore silly religions like AGW and the fools that follow and promote these religions of scientific suppression.
